"Test Fire"

Tuesday, 2 July 2002

Got everything together but the internal parts would not install.  Got to looking and the breech lock pin (1) would bind and not let the breech lock (2) slide up and seat.  When I tested the assembly without the pin everything worked fine.

So I got out the dremel and removed some metal to enlarge the relief for the breach lock pin in the side plate.  Cleaned it out and everything works fine now.

Ok, after a little more detective work I think the real problem was I had the barrel turned all the way into the barrel extension.  This would not let the bolt close and screwed up everything.  Still I think the relief cut should be bigger.  Lesson learned, take your time and really check out your problems.Thursday, 18 July 2002

Test fired today!  Went out with my brother in law  and fired the 1919.  We had it set up to fire with a lanyard with a five round belt.  First pull and all you heard was a click.  Oops, forgot to pull the charging handle back twice.  Got it loaded and back behind the car and pulled the lanyard and BANG!  First round down range, pulled again and another round off.  Third, fourth and fifth off without a hitch.  Loaded up the belt again and fired off another string without the lanyard, no problems.  Loaded up again and fired a rapid fire string still no problems.  Next I'll be off to the range for some accuracy tests.  So it's finished, so what's next?

Thanks Jim at PCS, Inc for the park job and Stephen Welch for doing the internals for me.
